LESSON & A QUESTION

In this post I want to give you a lesson AND ask you a question.

First the lesson:

There is a very simple formula that when used is able to spit out money for anyone at anytime… regardless of the economy– Regardless of your proffession.  PERIOD!

Ready?

Find out what people have a burning desire for and then give it to them. I think most people aren’t able to do this BECAUSE it’s so darn simple. Most of us go around all day trying to figure out new ways to “sell ” our ____ ( whatever) to others.

That becomes very frustrating and expensive– both financially and emotionally. But what if you were able to find a group or a subset ( niche) of the population that had a specific burning issue they needed solved and you could provide the solution? The answer is ALOT OF MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLA !!!

HERE’S AN EXAMPLE

Several years ago I heard Gary Halbert , a famous copywriter now deceased, ask this question. Let’s say you were to open a resteraunt in town and I gave you 2 choices.

You could have the best burger in town , from rare cows that were spoon fed and massaged. I mean some seriously good meat! The kind you can taste weeks after you had it… The kind that you would tell all of your friends they had to try.

OR

A so so hamburger , but a starving crowd who hadn’t eaten in a while..

OF COURSE THE STARVING CROWD WINS EVERY TIME RIGHT?

So your job is to simply find that starving crowd in your field.

As a Loan Officer I decided not to chase people and convince them they needed a mortgage but instead– I found people who had a problem – credit issues and presented them with a solution where they wouldn’t have to put alot of money down  and still get attractive rates.

Suppose you are an attorney- Instead of trying to convince people you know what you are doing and that they should use your services– What if you found people who you KNEW had a problem and be there solution. HOW?
Well if you are an attorney who handles traffic issues why not send a letter to everyone who has just gotten a traffic violation ( it’s public record)
if you were a divorce attorney could you get a list of people who are going thur counseling?

DON’T GET CONFUSED BY THESE EXAMPLES !!!! THIS APPLIES TO ANY PROFFESSION !

If you are an accountant — Instead of doing returns find people with tax liens and help them get them resolved.

Now if you don’t know what their problem is — Why not ask them… Let them tell you , in their own words, what their issues are and then go ahead and provide them with the solution. Gotta tell you here– That is a MILLION DOLLAR idea if you are able to harness the power of that simple sentence.

OK – NOW FOR THE QUESTION !
