In this article I would like to just focus on what we say to ourselves. There are numerous courses out there that can help you communicate better with others.

But I will share one key that has helped me over the years in the GROW YOUR PROFITS SECTION BELOW.

The conversations we have in our brains everyday would shock us if we stopped and recorded them. I have found that there are 2 types of people in the world.

The first looks at every obstacle and opportunity and immediately thinks about all the reasons it can’t happen. All the things they lack. All the downsides.

The second sees the same opportunity and thinks about all of the obstacles as well. Then they determine to learn and succeed.

Please don’t confuse this with optimists and pessimists. That’s not what this is about. It’s much worse than that.

IT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS TO YOU WHICH ONE SUCCEEDS!

ACTION ITEM: The very next time you are in a situation that seems like an opportunity to you take a time out. Listen to those voices in your head. Write them down.

Then determine to do whatever you need to do to succeed.

Funny story- I was what you might call a math “dunce” in school. I was totally intimidated by math and simply said “I am bad at math.” Then for the next 26 years I spent my life attached to a calculator working in mortgages/real-estate finance and became one of the top lenders and trainers in the country.

In the Motivational Quote and article section above I promised you that I would address the second half of Tony Robbins quote-How You Communicate With Others.Years ago I worked in a shoe store. I was around 15 years old but realized that sales was going to be my profession. The store I worked in at the time was in a neighborhood that was clearly in transition.During the day all of the “rich” people shopped in the mall and at night all of the new residents of the area, who were lower-middle class came in. It was almost as if it was a change of shift at a manufacturing plant.After a few weeks I created my “Wrap.” You know, the sales pitch you give. But what I quickly realized is that I had to tailor it to these 2 different groups.YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR CUSTOMER: The key word here is TO. Not at your customer-

Not up to your customer.

Not down to your customer.

THE DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS SYNDROME

Have you ever looked at your client and seen that blank stare- You know- Just like a deer in the headlights who is blinded.

Years ago a company contacted me and offered me a sophisticated computer program that showed the tax benefits of homeownership , how much equity was being built , and 12 pages of various program options for my mortgage clients.

They were totally confused when I told them to get lost  and that I would never ever use or endorse such a program.

WHY?

Because I wanted to build a relationship with my borrowers and speak to them…. Not at – Not Down- Not Up !

They won’t admit they don’t understand it – they’ll just leave and not come back.

TAKEAWAYS

Some of your clients don’t understand your sophisticated language and you must dumb it down for them and simply give them the facts and how it will impact them.

They are not impressed with your fancy language and don’t understand it. They don’t understand your industry jargon.  It doesn’t make you look smart – Instead it makes them feel stupid and confused.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A CONFUSED PERSON DOES IN A SALES SITUATION?

If you guessed nothing you are correct. Make sure you tailor your presentation to the person and their ability to understand and act on what you are saying!!!!!

GROW YOUR WEALTH

 

What a week? The stock market lost 12%.Interest rates are at historic lows.Unemployment is at historic highs.The mood in the country is one of concern and discomfort.HOW ARE YOU FEELING SO FAR?If you have read Think and Grow Rich I want to remind you of something very important that is mentioned in that book.

EVERY FAILURE HAS IN IT THE SEED OF GREATER BENEFIT!

Now I have probably read THINK AND GROW RICH dozens of times but I never really understood this quote until recently.  Tommorow night I am meeting with 2 very important people.

Both very smart- Both very motivated- Both very successful.

Our idea is to look at the situation we find ourselves in today in the real-estate market and profit from it.

Many people look at  a situation and focus on the problem. However , every problem also presents an opportunity.

DID YOU KNOW MORE MILLIONAIRES WERE CREATED DURING THE DEPRESSION than any time prior?

And more millionaires will be created during this downturn as well. Some of this has to do with what I spoke about earlier in the Motivational Quote and relates to what you say to yourself. What do you ask yourself?

You must learn: To make lemonade you must first crush the lemons. ( write that down and remember it)

Now matter how much your financial situation has deteriorated it will only get worse if you do nothing. All around us is a feeling of paralysis.
