one of the newest tools I had discovered, tested and now wanted to share with 317 other<br />
loan officers in attendance.</p>
<p><strong>THEN I SAID IT!</strong><br />
As I wrapped up my talk I said &#8220;If you don&#8217;t invest in this than you are just stupid. You should just leave<br />
the business right now because you are not going to make it!&#8221;<br />
It came from the very bottom  of my heart with total sincerity! It wasn&#8217;t a sales ploy!</p>
<p><strong>TWO THINGS THEN HAPPENED AT THE VERY SAME TIME</strong></p>
<p>First- I watched as my wife and 2 of my staff members buried their faces in their hands<br />
and shook their heads as if they were totally embarassed and wanted to become invisible.</p>
<p><strong>Second-</strong> Several hundred attendees ran to the back of the room as if the room was on fire.<br />
They were geting in line to invest in this program.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>LESSONS TO LEARN</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">If you &#8216;ve been watching the news you can&#8217;t help but notice the big uproar about<br />
Chik-Fil -A and their owners comments and PUBLIC position on gay marriage laws.<br />
He gave his opinion based on his deep held beliefs.<br />
He didn&#8217;t care what others thought.<br />
<strong>HE DOESN&#8217;T CARE WHO HE OFFENDS &#8211; HE IS GOING TO HOLD TRUE TO HIS BELIEFS!!!!</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Too often we try to be everything to everyone and wind up being nothing to noone!<br />
See in reality I learned from<a title="DAN KENNEDY" href="http://bit.ly/M5Z8nX" target="_blank"> Dan Kennedy</a> years ago that the people want a strong leader who<br />
believes in what they say and do.<br />
The ones you alienate weren&#8221;t going to buy from you anyway! so really &#8211; who cares !</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>SO HERE ARE SOME TAKEAWAYS FOR YOU TO USE ASAP!</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Be who you are and state it clearly in all you say and do.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Never worry about who you alienate- they weren&#8217;t buyers</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Think about how you can generate a buzz like this!<br />
Chik-Fil- A has probably gotten 100 MILLION in FREE PUBLICITY !!!!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">They are on every news program- Every newspaper &#8211; Every Radio Show. Every TV News Program<br />
Everyone is talking about them &#8212; all week.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Their supporters are eating there more often and holding rallies<br />
Their opponents are showing up too just adding more fuel to the fire.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">ALL WHILE MR.CHIK-FIL-A has stayed true to his convictions and<br />
TAKEN IN TRUCK LOADS OF CASH &#8211; NEW CUSTOMERS- AND FREE PUBLICITY!!!!!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">STOP TRYING TO BE EVERYTHING &#8211; TO EVERYONE!!!!!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">BE YOURSELF &#8211; DON&#8217;T APOLOGIZE- LET EVERYONE KNOW YOUR OPINIONS<br />
AND STIR UP DIRT !!!!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">How about 1 more example- ok?</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I was tired of seeing people with credit issues be abused by lenders so I came right out and said<br />
That even though I was a lender I was tired of seeing good people who had a credit challange<br />
being ripped off &#8211; hung up on and treated poorly by lenders.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">THEN &#8211; I let everyone know about it.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">1. I wrote a book and put it on AMAZON and in bookstores.<br />
2. I went on ABC -NBC- CBS and cable channels<br />
3. I wrote articles and did interviews for papers<br />
4. I went on 43 radio shows around the country.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">RESULTS&#8211; Lots of people hating me in the mortgage industry- including several mailed death threats.<br />
HUD audits and investigations.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR business built in 18 months and sold for 7 figures!<br />
Lot&#8217;s of decent people who had challanges out of their control realized their dreams of owning a home!</p>

<p>This past week I got a call from someone out of the blue.<br />
Turns out this person is a super aggressive salesperson and thought of an idea that would merge my companies programs with his.<br />
As a strange aside he used to be in the mortgage business and knew of me and what we had accomplished.<br />

Anyway- back to this important story. His company sells signs. Indoor- Outdoor and car and truck wraps and ads. Our company is the expert in mobile Marketing and Creating Customer Capture systems so business can be found where their clients are searching for them. Over 50% of all searches are now on Mobile Devices.<br />
When I arrived at the meeting his boss was there and we immediately got into a conversation about how business was. Honestly- his business was not doing great.<br />
<strong>HOW COULD IT IN THIS ECONOMY???? OR COULD IT AFTER ALL WITH A LITTLE TWEAK?</strong><br />
So he started going on and on about the competition. About how he is selling a commodity. How he networks. How he advertises. How he gets new business.</p>
<p><strong>THEN I ASKED HIM A FUNNY QUESTION- DOES ANYONE REALLY WANT A SIGN?????</strong><br />
Of course they do he said.<br />
<strong>THEN I ASKED HIM ANOTHER FUNNY QUESTION- DOES ANYONE REALLY WANT A SIGN?</strong><br />
By now , you can imagine this guy thinks I am totally nuts?<br />
<strong>THEN I ASKED HIM ANOTHER FUNNY  QUESTION- WHY SHOULD I GET MY SIGN FROM YOU AND NOT SOMEONE CHEAPER DOWN THE STREET?</strong><br />
Now – aside from being frustrated at what appeared to be my dumb questions he was starting to get pissed off!<br />
<strong>“ WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY?”</strong><br />
I started explaining my backround to him. Told him about my coaching groups. Told him about some of the businesses I have built and sold. Told him about my consulting. Told him about Trackable Response and our expertise in creating Mobile Marketing Solutions.<br />
<strong>HE STILL DIDN’T UNDERSTAND- MAYBE YOU DON’T EITHER?</strong><br />
He asked me who my competition was and I told him I really didn’t have any. Now that might strike you as arrogant- it definitely struck him that way, but stay with me here just a little bit longer – because there is a HUGE lesson here. One that will totally change your business.<br />
<strong>SOME MARKETING TRUTHS YOU MUST UNDERSTAND!</strong><br />
<strong>NO –ONE WANTS A SIGN</strong>- They want customers and are using a sign to get them.<br />
<strong>NO- ONE WANTS  MORTGAGE</strong>- They want a house they can enjoy with their family- and need a mortgage because they can’t pay cash.<br />
<strong>NO-ONE WANTS  A MOBILE WEBSITE</strong>- They want more business and realize that at least half of their customers are searching for them on their mobile devices and that this number is increasing every single day.<strong><br />
NO-ONE WANTS  A BRAKE JOB- OIL CHANGE – TIRE ROTATION</strong>….They  want their car to be safe and they want it to continue running.<br />
- I truly hope you are seeing my point here. It’s subtle but has the power to totally change your business.&lt;&#8212;&#8211;</p>
<p><strong>FINALLY- I EXPLAINED “THE I DON’T HAVE ANY COMPETITION “ STATEMENT!</strong><br />
Everyone who knows be knows that I am NOT arrogant. In fact, I hate arrogant people. Confident- yes!  But I’ll save that whole topic for another article.<br />
Now let’s switch gears just for a second so I can explain this second point and the whole head of lettuce theme in this article.<br />
Let’s say you want to make a salad. Money is really tight and so you go searching for lettuce at the lowest price.<br />
After all – Lettuce is lettuce and one head is exactly the same as any other right?<br />
<strong>THAT’S A BIG MISTAKE SO MANY CUSTOMERS I CONSULT WITH MAKE BEFORE I FIX IT!</strong><br />
<strong>THE BIG LESSON-</strong>&#8211; If you are in a commodity business STOP competing and change your product!<br />
<strong>GOT THAT?</strong><br />
See if all you want is a head of lettuce than it’s totally fine to go to the nearest store that has the lettuce at the cheapest price.<br />
<strong>BUT</strong> – If you are in a hurry- and price isn’t the ONLY factor than you can opt for the shredded lettuce in the bag that is already washed and ready to serve.<br />
If you wanted a certain type of Romain lettuce for a special salad dish you are serving than price also isn’t the critical deciding factor is it?<br />

<em><strong>BUY APPEALING TO THE OUR PRIMARY MODE.</strong></em></p>
<p>Meaning &#8212; we are all primarily motivated by one of four things</p>
<p>1.ROMANCE</p>
<p>2. RECOGNITION</p>
<p>3. SELF -PRESERVATION</p>
<p>4. MONEY</p>
<p>These 4 appeals are the BIG ONES!!!</p>
<p>and to succeed with that person</p>
<p>you must first find out which one of the four<br />
they are in and snap them out of it..</p>
<p>Think about it&#8211;<br />
If you are single you may be pre occupied with Romance!<br />
If you are out of work right now &#8211; Money or Self Preservation  may be YOUR big one.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what I want you to do..</p>
<p>Think about your product or service&#8230;<br />
Then think of each of these appeals<br />
Then try to tie your product to each one and use them in your marketing.</p>
<p><strong>YEAH- I KNOW &#8211; HOW CAN YOUR PRODUCT BE TIED TO MONEY &#8211; ROMANCE BLAH BLAH BLAH</strong></p>
<p><strong>Let&#8217;s take a car &#8211; and you are a salesman</strong></p>
<p>Romance- how sexy you will be in that convertible<br />
Self Preservation- How well built the car is and how safe it is.<br />
Recognition-  How your friends and neighbors will see you when you pull up in that car<br />
Money- How efficient it is &#8211; How long it will last &#8211; the great gas mileage it gets</p>
<p><strong>Starting to see the point? I hope so!</strong></p>
<p>Oh &#8212; You sell a service????</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s Take Insurance</p>
<p>Romance- How sexy your spouse will think you are because you cared enough  to protect them<br />
Recognition- How Smart you are to get this policy &#8212; that is actually an investment<br />
Money- You are making sure your family is provided for and has no money worries<br />
Self Preservation- How you are protecting your self and family against unexpected disasters</p>

<div><span style="color: #000000; font-size: small;">I just got back from the Apple Store. If you have one near you I suggest just going there to observe what&#8217;s going on. The entire mall was a ghost town except</span><span style="color: #000000; font-size: small;">for the Apple Store which was jammed with people.<br />
A few weeks ago I met with a potential client who is also a friend. He has a great business but is always looking to grow it even more ( first sign of a successful person).</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000; font-size: small;">We spoke for a while and he told me about a few consulting clients he had just started working with. They needed his expertise and he was able to save one of them almost 250,000. But he was getting tired of going after these clients one by one. </span></div>

<div><span style="color: #000000; font-size: small;">As we laid out the issue it seemed like there was a very simple solution&#8211; WEBINARS  I have been using webinars and teleseminars for almost 10 years. Recently I totaled up some of these webinars and teleseminars and the total shocked me.</p>

<div><span style="color: #000000; font-size: small;">IT WAS A TOTAL DISCONNECT- Talking about technology and using a pad and paper instead of an IPAD. So I broke down today- threw out my pads and got the IPAD2 64mb with 3g wireless.</span></div>

<p>I wouldn&#8217;t mind being called a &#8220;flake&#8221; on a national tv show and neither should you. Controversy sells! Being outrageous<br />
sells. Doing things out of the norm gets you noticed and gets you new customers and tons of Free Publicity!</p>
<p>While Matthews insulted Bachmann in reality she should send him a thank you !</p>
<p>She is still being talked about &#8211; She is getting noticed- She now has some QUICK momentum she didn&#8217;t have just last week!</p>
<p>How can you do something outrageous to get noticed?</p>
<p>What is standard in your industry and what can you do to break that standard?</p>
<p>Years ago when the real -estate market was robust Lenders were giving loans to buyers who had a bankruptcy</p>
<p>but requiring them to put down at least 20 % and were charging high rates and fees.</p>
<p>THAT WAS THE INDUSTRY STANDARD.</p>
<p><strong>SO I BROKE IT !!! </strong>I wrote a book called YES YOU CAN GET A MORTGAGE with low rates and low closing costs<br />
even if you had a bankruptcy. I publicly scolded lenders for overcharging people who had unfortunate circumstances.<br />
RESULTS: Appearances on 42 radio shows around the country. Appearances on CBS-NBC-ABC- COMCAST .<br />
Book went to # 1 on Amazon and stayed there for a while.</p>
<p>Take a second here and think about how you can apply this!!! Then go ahead and do it!<br />
