Talk about a bad mood !

Let me take you back in time to the year 2000.
I had just started my own company in 1999 and as luck would have it the economy went right into the tank. Business was off and so was my mood.

I truly had my back up against the wall and had just met with a bankruptcy attorney.

NOW FAST FORWARD TO 2003 — Just 3 short years later and I had built 3 successful businesses that were all either earning 7 figures or more a year or pretty darn close and on track to do so.
If you haven’t watched the video to the right yet — go ahead- it tells the story better than I can here.
SO WHO CARES — RIGHT?

Well stay with me here.  Until that point in my life– that was the lowest I had ever been. But of course we all have choices.
I could have just accepted it or I could have fought back and reinvented and recreated. I’m sure you already realize which one I did and recommend you do.

SOME TIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE NEWS !!!!

As I was listening to the news this morning — it dawned on me to share this famous story with you. One I have always kept in the front of my mind during hard times– like now!

In ancient times there were 2 countries at war. The problem was that they were separated by a large ocean so the only way to attack was to sail there and hit the shores. After a period of some calm one of the kings decided that the war was not over in his mind so he ordered his generals to prepare the troops and the ships to sail in the morning for a major invasion.

As the troops landed on the enemies shores they were met with great resistance. Apparantly there was a spy who had alerted the other king about the invasion. His troops were on the beach waiting for their enemies arrival.

The attacking army lost more than half of their soldiers and many others were badly wounded and unable to fight. At night fall the fighting finally subsided. The general of the attacking army called his soldiers around and told them the first thing to do was to burn their ships.

ARE YOU CRAZY? the said. If we burn our boats how will we be able to retreat?

EXACTLY! said the general.

AND GUESS WHAT?– They won!!!!!

That’s exactly how to pull yourself  out of a bad situation and get back on track to success. ( please re-read that)
YES- I REALIZE IT DOESN’T SEEM LOGICAL- To be honest it’s almost mystical. But when you are truly up against the wall you get some magical powers! Losing is NOT an option!

THEREFORE YOU WIN!!!!!

ACTION PLAN:

1. Get a clear picture of what you want to create and what it looks like — mentally

2. Start creating it!

3. Avoid all distractions- avoid all criticisms- avoid all skeptics– avoid everything !!!

4. Work without a net!

BTW- Ever wonder why people with  2nd or 3rd  generation wealth often don’t do well.

IT’”S Because they are working with a NET!!!!

OH– AND TURN OFF THE NEWS!!!!

My friend is in her late 40′s – attractive and sweet. A daughter in college and a son about to graduate. Married for 25 years and with a great job. Life was moving along nicely – right???

Now don’t misunderstand me-
These things happened to her. I am NOT denying that. But the way she responds to these issues
is what determines if she is a victim or not.
Little back story- you may or may not know so listen up.

Here’s a history of my past 3 years.
Had a multimillion dollar training business-
Sold it.
Buyers went bankrupt and were not able to pay their debt.
Got business back and spent money to “resurrect it’
Industry lost 2/3 of its size and we hit the worst period in decades for this industry.

Had a multimillion dollar on-line business with 2 partners.
Both partners conspired to “steal” the business.
An 18 month lawsuit costing over 100,000 ensued.
Finally resolved but not to my satisfaction.
Started several other business ventures that didn’t pan out.
STUCK!!!!!

NOPE !

ONLY YOU CAN DECIDE IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE A VICTIM OR NOT!!!!!

Flash forward to today.

1. Have several consulting clients paying me large sums for the value I bring them in growing
their businesses.

2. Have several on-line businesses built from scratch doing a solid 5 figures each month and on their way to growing larger.

3. Have started my newest business and just yesterday was approached by a group who want to invest a nice six figure sum for ownership in this business.This business is being positioned for an 8 figure sale in the next 5 years.
Did you catch that?
I am building that businesses with the absolute intent of selling it.
You must know what your end goal is or you can never accomplish it.
This is critical because the descions I make are based on that fact!!!!

4. Have a group of coaching clients that provide me with great joy as I watch them succeed.

I value facebook and you tube but thought LINKED IN was really mostly
for people out of work who wanted to network.

SO LET ME CUT TO THE CHASE OF WHY I AM WRITING THIS !

While many subscribers sent me thank you’s and many invested in this system
themselves, about 2 or 3 subscribers sent me nasty e-mails.

One in particular said he had been following me for 3 years and all I ever did
was pitch products to him. So he unsubscribed.

IT GOT ME THINKING ABOUT WINNERS AND LOSERS AND A FEW OTHER TOPICS!

My first thought was “HOW COULD HE BE ON THIS LIST FOR 3 YEARS AND NOT SEE
ANY OF THE ARTICLES I HAVE POSTED- ALL OF THE IDEAS I HAVE SHARED-
ALL OF THE “SECRETS” I HAVE PROVIDED?

But then it hit me- There are winners and there are losers.
Winners are always out there looking for opportunities- for shortcuts, for “insider info” from
people who have already accomplished what they are hoping to accomplish.

LOSERS- Think everyone is out to scam them somehow. It’s always someone else’s fault.

They don’t want to learn – They just want to make excuses- To be fair -it’s much easier to complain

and make excuses than it is to explore and actually do something.

TO ME IT WOULD BE WRONG OF ME NOT TO SHARE!!!!!

Not every idea- strategy or tool is right for everyone. But if I know of something

that could help you and I have tried it myself- shouldn’t I share it?
Isn’t that why you are subscribed to begin with?

SECOND IDEA- THIS IS A BIG ONE!!!
If you want to be successful you must be IMMUNE TO CRITICISM. If you believe you are providing value.
If you are honest.
If you care about your clients- subscribers.

THAN DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT – JUST KEEP DOING THE RIGHT THING AND PROVIDE VALUE

They ask different questions and these questions lead to their success. This turns out to
be like a cycle of success.

-First they pick a target.
-Then they ask the following questions.

-HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO INVEST -TIME AND MONEY TO GET THERE?
-HOW DOES THIS BREAK DOWN -DAILY-WEEKLY -MONTHLY -YEARLY
-WHAT TOOLS DO I NEED?
-WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN TO ACHIEVE THAT GOAL?
-WHAT OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE DO I NEED? AND WHERE DO I FIND THEM?

LET ME GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE:

As you may know I am in multipe markets—

My most recent project is a HOW TO course in the food industry
that is priced at 197.

So here are my questions.

- I want to earn 100,000 dollars from this course over the next 12 months
- How many courses do I need to sell?
- Where will I find these buyers?
- If I can get 100 visitors to my site per day how many will buy? How many need to buy
for me to get 100,000 in 12 months?
- How will I find these buyers and what will my costs be?
- Who will help me find them?

I can go on and on here but I hope you are starting to see my point? Are you?

The point is simply that you need to focus on HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
instead of what most of us focus on which is – WHAT HAPPENS IF IT DOESN’T WORK OUT.
In my case I need 500 sales a year — meaning about 10 a week
If 100 visitors come to my site and I convert 2% of them that means
I have 2 sales.

That means I need 500 visitors a week to make 10 sales.
If each visitor costs me 1.00 than I am spending 500 dollars
a week and earning 1970.00 since the course is 197.00

But there are a few variables..
The other 98 people who didn’t buy may still buy later
Since I continue to communicate with them.
and
I am not paying 1.00 for all of my traffic — some of it is coming
in for free from articles and videos etc..
BOTTOM LINE: Stop worrying — Starting thinking in terms of what  NEEDS
To happen for you to achieve your goal.. THEN GO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!
Break it down into manageable parts you can start working on asap!!!

This weekend I got into a conversation with a friend about colleges. My daughter just got accepted into 4 or 5 good colleges but I believe she has chosen Penn State. My son is now looking at high schools.

So things are a bit crazy at the Sacks House these days.

HERE’S WHAT”S INTERESTING.

My daughter got into several schools that her guidance counselor told her she probably wouldn’t get into and 1 school that she was told not even to apply to.

My son has applied to 4 schools 2 of which he was told he would not get into and shouldn’t even try.
For those of you who know me– I love to challange authority and prove them wrong. How else could someone like me – with no formal education past high school and no connections or silver spoon –
( what I like to call the “lucky sperm” club) build 4 multi million dollar businesses in 5 years.

I don’t say that to brag because clearly I have alot more to accomplish. But I think I can and in fact I know I can and so I simply go out and start “DOING”

That might be what’s holding you back so I thought I would share it.. YOu might benefit from re-reading the previous paragraph.

We had a great sushi lunch and he started telling me about some of his ideas and OF COURSE I gave him my advice.
Some of that advice related to alot of what I discuss on this site.
He was trying to set up some addtional lead sources as well as having another stream of income. So I told him a few
key things.

FIRST- YOU MUST HAVE CRITERIA FOR A BUSINESS !

Look – him and I are not in our 20′s or even 30”s but closer to 50! At this stage we need something that has 3 criteria

1. Must Be Scaleable- meaning it must be able to be easily built and scaled big!

2. Must be SALEABLE- It’s great to earn a nice living but what happens at the end of the day? What happens when
You are older and no longer able to travel and work your butt off like he is doing? You need to build something that at the end of the day is saleable. Being an employee or being on commission IS NOT SALEABLE. Having a business is!

I have now sold 3 multi-million dollar businesses just in case you were wondering if I was qualified to even make the statement above! In fact growing a business is my favorite vocation and the one I am best at!

3. It must provide continuity income. Meaning that every month you have a steady stream of income without needing to make another new sale- This is one he was familiar with since as an insurance agent he gets renewal income. But you may not be familiar with it! YOU MUST HAVE income that comes in each and every month !!! PERIOD!!!! It’s one of the things that the mortgage industry doesn’t provide unfortunately. BUT — I am working on a way to create that by having marketing that has been tested and proven that can just repeat each and every month with known =predictable results!
NOT Perfect — but as close to continuity as you can get in the industry! After all — how many times does a person get a mortgage– These days? If that interests you go to http://www.reversemortgagesuccess.com and see the content we have there!

He took in all of this and seemed very excited!

BTW- I also told him about a great resource I found on how to generate leads from facebook = good for any business that provides any product or service and exactly what I had done since learning from this excellent course.

Who is stopping you? If you are like most people you have many negative people around you. The ones telling you

that you can’t do this. Or that is impossible. Or taking up too much of your time with unproductive – unimportant-
trivial stuff.

GET RID OF THEM!

Many of you who know me know that I am totally serious. So serious that a few years ago I got rid of 3 TOXIC people I had created a Multi Milliion dollar business with.  Yes- I practice what I preach.
Was it hard to walk away !   Yes and No !

No One likes to walk away from a great business they helped create. But the truth is I had to ( GO BACK AND re-read #4)

Yes- it’s hard – but you can not succeed until you rid yourself of toxic people and their thoughts.

Like attracts Like- think of who can help you along your path to success and help them as well !

If you can’t totally rid yourself — at least block their access to you to limited times during the day or week!

My big issue is smoking. Yes- of course I have other goals and issues but that is the BIG ONE for me. So I am NOT waiting . I have already bought the patch and psyched myself up to be a NON -SMOKER.

You can make up your mind to achieve your goals anytime of the year… In fact I think those who make New Years Resolutions are just plain dumb and doomed to failure! Why? Because they have NOT committed to that goal. If they did they would already be accomplishing it.

WANT PROOF ? Go to your local gym each Monday in the month of Jan. You will see at ton of people that first week. Than each of the subsequent weeks you will see a noticeable drop off  until by mid Feb you will only see the hard core people who DID NOT make a new years resolution but instead made a decision to change ! or achieve!
